Nimy Resources and M2i Global Partner to Secure Gallium Supply for U.S. Defense

Nimy Resources has entered into a non-binding collaboration agreement with M2i Global to support the U.S. Department of Defense in securing a sustainable supply of gallium. The partnership aims to strengthen the supply chain for gallium, a critical material used in semiconductors, radar, and aerospace technologies.

Under the agreement, M2i Global will pursue a gallium procurement contract with the Department of Defense, while Nimy Resources will supply gallium as it develops its projects in Australia. Both companies will leverage their respective expertise, and a fund management company will be appointed as an advisor. A definitive agreement will outline mutual considerations.

Gallium, commonly used in electronics, semiconductors, transistors, and LEDs, is primarily produced as a by-product of bauxite processing and, to a lesser extent, from zinc-processing residues. The U.S. Geological Survey estimates that global bauxite resources contain over 1 million tonnes of gallium, with additional quantities in zinc resources.

In 2023, U.S. imports of gallium metal were valued at $4.89 million, marking a 40% decrease from 2022. The Department of Defense seeks to establish a resilient industrial base to meet current and future national defense requirements.

M2i Global's CEO Alberto Rosende emphasized that the agreement supports U.S. national defense and economic security. Executive Chairman Doug Cole highlighted the partnership's role in ensuring secure access to critical materials for the U.S., expressing enthusiasm for working with Nimy Resources to provide high-quality gallium to the technology sector.

Nimy Resources focuses on exploring and developing critical metals in Western Australia, while M2i Global connects stakeholders across government, business, and academia to enhance access to critical minerals for defense and economic purposes.
