Chloroplant Secures $17 Million Contract for Green Hydrogen Plant in Sarawak

Chloroplant Company Limited, a subsidiary of Marcon LC, has been awarded a $17 million contract by Singapore-based H1Hydro Group to design, build, and operate a 10 MW green hydrogen plant in Sarawak, Malaysia. The facility, set to launch in early 2026, will utilize advanced modular European electrolysis technology to optimize efficiency and scalability.

Sarawak is leveraging its abundant hydropower resources to position itself as a clean energy hub in the Asia-Pacific region. The hydrogen plant aligns with the state’s long-term strategy to promote sustainable energy development and contribute to global decarbonization efforts. The project aims to produce cost-competitive green hydrogen for regional markets, including South Korea and Japan. Discussions are ongoing with South Korean and Malaysian firms to establish storage and transportation solutions for the hydrogen produced at the facility.

Future expansion plans include the development of a hydrogen container distribution network targeting Northeast Asia. This initiative is expected to integrate Sarawak into the global hydrogen supply chain while creating economic opportunities and driving job growth within the region. Sarawak’s government has emphasized its commitment to scaling up renewable energy production and fostering international partnerships.
