The Palladium Global Science Award, launched in March 2025, supports pioneering research in palladium-based materials. Open to scientists, startups, and research teams, the award seeks proposals for novel applications of palladium. Submissions are due by July 31, 2025.

The initiative aims to recognize and fund breakthrough ideas in the development of palladium materials with unique industrial and technological potential. With a total prize fund of $350,000 USD, the award includes three categories: scientific development ($120,000 and $60,000), scientific paper ($80,000 and $40,000), and applied concept ($50,000).

Organized in partnership with the China Precious Metals Industry Committee (CPMIC), the program highlights palladium’s strategic role across industries. CPMIC serves as the general partner of the award. Key institutional partners include North-West University (South Africa), Shanghai Metals Market (China), and the MDX Research Center at the Institute of Science Tokyo (Japan).

Submissions will be evaluated by an international jury comprising leading experts: Professor Francis Verpoort from Wuhan University of Technology and the Joint Institute of Chemical Research; Professor Kyriaki Polychronopoulou from Khalifa University of Science and Technology in the UAE; Professor Dmitri Bessarabov from North-West University in South Africa; Professor Chao Chen from Tsinghua University in China; and Professor Dr. Lutz Ackermann from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Germany.

The award aims to foster innovation and international collaboration in palladium science, a critical frontier in advanced materials research.
