Solus Advanced Materials Signs Second Copper Foil Supply Deal with ACC

South Korea’s Solus Advanced Materials has signed a second contract with Automotive Cells Company (ACC) to supply copper foil for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. ACC, a joint venture between Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, and TotalEnergies subsidiary Saft, will use the ultra-thin, high-strength copper foil in its European battery production The foil will be exclusively supplied to a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
The copper foil will be manufactured at Solus’s Volta Energy Solutions Hungary facility, the only copper foil production plant in Europe This facility has positioned Solus as a key supplier to Europe’s EV battery market, producing high-quality foils that enhance battery density and performance.
This agreement builds on Solus’s long-standing expertise in battery materials. The company developed the world’s first copper foil for batteries in 1996 and has since expanded its global footprint With recent investments in Hungary and plans for a new facility in Canada, Solus is scaling up to meet growing demand for EV materials.
The partnership with ACC aligns with Europe’s broader push for sustainable mobility. ACC aims to achieve 120 GWh of battery production capacity by 2030, enough to equip over 2.5 million vehicles annually. This collaboration supports the EU’s goal of securing localized supply chains for critical EV components.
