Sierra Metals Projects Increased Production Across Most Metals for 2025

Sierra Metals expects to boost production of copper, zinc, silver, and lead in 2025 as the company ramps up throughput rates and focuses on resource growth at its Yauricocha Mine in Peru and Bolivar Mine in Mexico.

2025 Guidance

  • Copper: Sierra forecasts production of 44.6 million to 48.5 million pounds, up from 44.32 million pounds in 2024, which exceeded the top-end guidance of 43.3 million pounds.
  • Zinc: Output is projected to rise to 53.6 million to 58.4 million pounds, compared to 44.89 million pounds in 2024.
  • Silver: Production is expected to reach between 1,900 and 2,060 ounces, an increase from 1,861 ounces last year.
  • Lead: Output is forecasted to grow to 13.7 million to 15 million pounds from 11.02 million pounds in 2024.
  • Gold: Production is anticipated to decline to 10,200 to 11,100 ounces from 15,925 ounces in 2024.

The company stated that at current metal prices, it expects to generate strong operating cash flows to fund capital investments and service its debt obligations.

In the final quarter of 2024, Sierra achieved record throughput of 798,000 metric tons, an 18% increase from the same period a year earlier. This performance was driven by a 31% rise in throughput rates at Yauricocha and a 10% increase at Bolivar.

  • Yauricocha Mine: Fourth-quarter production saw copper, zinc, and silver output rise by 29%, 28%, and 20%, respectively, compared to the same quarter in 2023.
  • Bolivar Mine: Quarterly copper production remained steady year-on-year, while silver production increased by 9% and gold output fell by 19%.

Consolidated throughput for 2024 exceeded 2.7 million tons, marking an 11% improvement over 2023.
