Rain City Resources Launches Lithium Extraction Pilot at Marcellus Shale

Rain City Resources has announced the arrival of its ACCELi mineral extraction pilot plant in Springfield, Pennsylvania, where operations are set to begin this week. The pilot will focus on extracting lithium and other critical minerals from wastewater brine associated with natural gas production in the Marcellus Shale Formation.

The ACCELi Plant represents a pre-commercial trial for the company’s proprietary extraction technology. Operated by Avonlea Lithium Corp. (ALC), a company in which Rain holds an option to earn a 100% interest, the plant will process approximately 20,000 liters of brine per day over the course of a 21-day trial. The data collected will be independently verified, offering an opportunity to demonstrate the efficiency of the ACCELi process in recovering lithium, magnesium, barite, and other strategic minerals.

The pilot’s success could lead to an extension based on results and consent requirements. The plant is part of Rain City’s broader strategy to meet the growing U.S. demand for domestic lithium production, particularly as concerns over the dependency on foreign imports and tariffs rise. Rain aims to position itself as a leader in North American lithium extraction, with plans to begin commercial production by 2027.
