Mobec Innovation Opens Lithium Battery Recycling Plant in Noida

Mobec Innovation has inaugurated its first lithium battery recycling facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with an annual processing capacity of 6,000 tonnes. The plant aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported critical minerals while aligning with national sustainability goals. The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board has granted environmental certifications for the facility.
Expanding beyond its core business of B2B mobile EV charging and energy storage systems, Mobec’s new plant utilizes advanced hydrometallurgical and mechanical extraction methods to recover lithium, cobalt, nickel, graphite, copper, and manganese from end-of-life batteries.
Harry Bajaj, CEO of Mobec Innovation, highlighted the plant’s strategic importance, stating, “By reducing our dependence on imported lithium and other critical minerals and reclaiming valuable resources, we are reinforcing our commitment to green mobility, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.”
Industry analysts emphasize that this facility will support India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by localizing the supply chain for essential battery materials.
The facility employs a multi-stage recycling process, beginning with battery dismantling and component separation, followed by black mass collection, purification, and metal extraction. The recovered materials will benefit industries including electric vehicles, renewable energy, consumer electronics, aerospace, and healthcare.
