Australian Manufacturer Embraces Low-Carbon Aluminium in Push for Sustainability

January 29, 2025

Marine Air Flow International, an Australian manufacturer known for its engine ventilation equipment, has shifted to using Capral Aluminium’s LocAl Super Green, a low-carbon aluminium solution. This transition marks a step toward sustainability for the company, which supplies filtration systems to ensure clean air in marine engine rooms. Nearly half of its business comes from exports, serving clients worldwide.

Capral Aluminium’s custom aluminium extrusions play a key role in Marine Air Flow’s designs. The LocAl Super Green aluminium boasts significantly reduced CO2 emissions—just 4kg of CO2 per kilogram of aluminium, compared to the industry average of 12.46kg CO2 per kilogram. Capral introduced this low-carbon solution in 2022 to support environmentally conscious manufacturing practices.

According to Marine Air Flow’s Production Manager, Blake Highland, the switch to LocAl Super Green was carefully evaluated, with the associated cost premium found to have minimal impact on overall expenses. The transition aligns with the company’s long-term sustainability goals.

Marine Air Flow’s efforts in innovation and environmental responsibility have garnered recognition. The company won the Small Business Award at the Australian Export Awards and received the Gold Coast Business Excellence Award in June 2024, highlighting its contributions to both international markets and the local economy.

These achievements underscore Marine Air Flow’s commitment to quality and sustainability, further strengthened by its adoption of advanced materials from Capral Aluminium.
