ALRO S.A., one of Europe’s largest vertically integrated aluminium producers, has commissioned a state-of-the-art aluminium plate cutting saw at its Slatina facility in Romania. The RON 8 million ($1.76 million) investment aims to bolster the company’s production of high and very high value-added aluminium products for advanced industries such as aerospace and automotive. This marks another step in ALRO’s strategic focus on sophisticated aluminium solutions.
The new cutting saw enhances ALRO’s ability to offer aluminium plates tailored to technical specifications, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency. According to Marin Cilianu, ALRO’s Chief Executive Officer, the equipment will also support higher material utilization and reduce CO₂ emissions across the production chain. “This investment is yet another step in advancing ALRO’s capabilities to supply highly sophisticated aluminium products to the most demanding industries,” Cilianu stated.
This development aligns with ALRO’s long-term strategy of transitioning towards higher-value products and services. It follows the commissioning of the CUTSMART SYSTEMS facility in October 2024, a RON 13.7 million ($3 million) investment designed to provide precision-cut aluminium components for end-user sectors like aerospace, electronics, and automotive. Both projects reflect ALRO’s commitment to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The integration of advanced cutting technology allows ALRO to optimize metal usage, reduce lead times, and minimize its ecological footprint. By focusing on ready-to-use components instead of raw materials requiring additional processing, ALRO continues to position itself as a leader in delivering high-performance aluminium solutions.
