Alcoa Chairman Steven Williams to Step Down

February 27, 2025

Alcoa has announced that its chairman, Steven Williams, will be leaving the company. Williams, who has served as chairman since 2021 and has been a board member since Alcoa's separation from Arconic in 2016, will not seek re-election at the company's annual shareholder meeting later this year.

Williams is a veteran executive with decades of leadership experience in the energy and resources sectors. Prior to his role at Alcoa, he served as the President and CEO of Suncor Energy, where he played a key role in advancing sustainability initiatives and major operational expansions. He has also held senior leadership positions at ExxonMobil, bringing extensive expertise in corporate governance and industrial operations.

With Williams’ departure, Alcoa plans to reduce the size of its board from 12 members to 11. The company has not yet announced a successor or any further restructuring plans.
