Arizona Lithium to Deploy First Commercial-Scale Koch Li-Pro Unit at Prairie Project

Arizona Lithium (AZL) has announced plans to deploy the first-ever commercial-scale Koch Technology Solutions (KTS) Li-Pro “quad pod” unit at its Prairie Project in Saskatchewan later this year. This will mark the largest Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) process ever implemented by KTS and represents the first commercial-scale production at AZL’s Prairie Project.
Koch Technology Solutions, a subsidiary of Koch Industries—the second-largest privately held company in the United States—is a leading innovator in DLE technology. Their partnership with Arizona Lithium is expected to significantly enhance the Prairie Project’s production capabilities.
Duperow brine from Pad 1 underwent testing with KTS’s Li-Pro technology, yielding exceptional results, including approximately 98% lithium retention and an average 99% rejection rate of impurities such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium.
This successful de-risking process sets the stage for increased production by replicating additional Li-Pro units at Pad 1. AZL plans to expand further with the deployment of commercial facilities at Pads 2 and 3, with additional locations currently being identified for imminent development.
The Prairie Project is strategically positioned to supply battery-grade lithium carbonate to both the established Asian battery market and the rapidly growing North American battery sector. Battery-grade samples from the Prairie Project are already being distributed and tested in Asia, highlighting the project’s potential to become a key player in the global lithium supply chain.
